The children of All Saints Vacation Garden School, ages 4 to 13, enjoy five stimulating half-days of fun and adventure during which volunteer staff, junior counselors and special guests teach children to care for and appreciate all of God's gifts to us in our world, providing age-appropriate, interactive learning units on water, animals, soil, seeds, and harvest.
During their time together, children learn and experience -- through interactive games -- how some people must carry heavy buckets of water (for drinking) long distances to their villages. They hear about irrigation in an effort to help them understand what a precious commodity water is for life.
They have the opportunity to dig through soil, discover and learn about worms, finding out, first hand, about the benefits of our good earth. They explore the world of seeds and how they germinate in the soil (fruit and vegetable seeds) and also in us (seeds of God’s love).
In 2018, the children visited People to the People Food Pantry to deliver fruit baskets after going to the “grocery store” at Vacation Garden School to purchase real fruit with play money.
And, they enjoyed the gentle company of one of All Saints' own therapy dogs, Paxton, who visited to share with the children how animals too, have been given a seed of love.
All Saints will not have Vacation Garden School in summer of 2019. Please check back for information about Summer 2020! The enrollment form is linked below, so you can get a head's start.
