For our children at All Saints North Shore, Sunday School is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth and personal development.
Our children are helped to visualize and internalize the rich lessons we learn from the Bible -- important, life-long lessons about our faith, our values, and the value of community in their lives.
Once a month, during our intergenerational service, and also during baptisms, children are invited to participate in the service, hearing a special homily just for them, as they sit around our priest or deacon, at the foot of the altar stairs, and later, standing behind the altar, with our priest, as God's table is made ready for communion.
All this is offered in a warm, loving and age-appropriate context and environment. The Rev. Jim Chapman, our deacon, works with our dedicated parents and parishioners -- some of whom are elementary school teachers -- to develop a rich, engaging program of Christian formation for the children, helping them to:
•LEARN from Bible stories
•EXPERIENCE Spiritual Growth
•ESTABLISH a place to belong
•BUILD relationships and friendships to last a whole lifetime
•EMPHASIZE the benefits of intergenerational encounters
The All Saints Sunday School experience includes:
•Service Projects for the older children
•Confirmation classes
•Christmas Pageant
•Bible story offerings by parishioners who share scripture as it relates to their own lives
Children are invited to attend Sunday School while their parents and families attend the beginning of the service in the sanctuary, with the lessons, the reading of the Gospel, the homily and prayers.
Then, at the passing of the Peace, children are welcomed back into the sanctuary to join their families for the remainder of the service, including Holy Communion.
For the convenience and comfort of families with infants and toddlers, we also offer a staffed nursery.
VACATION GARDEN SCHOOL
All Saints also provides young children with learning opportunities about the wonders of God's creation through it's annual summer Vacation Garden School. Find out more by clicking on the link below.
Stepping Stones Preschool, the much-loved north shore learning institution, has been providing area families with robust two-day and three-day preschool programs since 1969.
A nonprofit, nondenominational pre-school, Stepping Stones is sponsored by All Saints Episcopal Church and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
Stepping Stones offers a warm, safe, supportive environment with a rich variety of daily learning activities that encourage our young children to learn, explore, have fun, and develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally.
Parents of infants and toddlers, who long to enjoy worship without their rambunctious youngsters squirming in their laps, may take advantage of the children's nursery which opens 15 minutes before the Sunday service begins. The supervised Nursery space is under the direction of our church school director, where staff follows standard protocols of cleanliness, maintaining sanitary conditions to ensure the well-being and safety of the young charges. There is also a comfortable Family Room with toys and more traditional seating, if young families prefer to sit together to watch and hear the service from a glassed wall behind the choir loft.
